Have you ever noticed how some days you feel completely alive and others… not so much?
There’s a reason for that.
The River of Life Energy
Life energy flows through us like a swift stream when there’s nothing blocking its path. It’s that simple. And that complicated.
I’ve been thinking a lot about energy lately—how it affects everything we do, how we feel, and how we show up in the world. The essence of who we are is energy. Our physical bodies, our emotions, our thoughts—all energy in different forms.
When this energy flows freely, we feel:
- Vibrant
- Healthy
- Peaceful
- Connected
- Present
But here’s the thing—life happens. And when it does, these experiences can become like stones in that beautiful stream of energy.
What Blocks Your Flow?
Ever feel stuck? Drained? Like you’re swimming upstream through molasses? Yeah, me too. These are signs that something is blocking your energy flow.
Common culprits include:
- Unresolved trauma (those experiences we’d rather not think about)
- Negative thought patterns (hello, inner critic!)
- Disappointments and heartbreaks
- External stress and chaotic environments
- Other people’s energy (yes, it’s contagious!)
When these blocks accumulate, energy can’t flow properly. It’s like trying to water your garden with a kinked hose. And what happens? Parts of your life begin to wither.
Taking Control of Your Energy
The good news? You have more control than you might think. While we can’t always control the external factors affecting our energy field, we absolutely can choose how we respond.
Here’s what works for me:
- Cleansing practices: A bath with epsom salts at the end of a long day isn’t just relaxing—it’s energetically cleansing.
- Meditation and breathwork: Even 5 minutes of deep breathing can reset your system and clear energy blockages.
- Movement: Walk, dance, stretch—physical movement dislodges stagnant energy.
- Energy hygiene: Setting boundaries with energy-draining people and situations.
- Emotional release: Journaling, crying, talking it out—whatever helps you process what’s stuck.
The Fear Factor
Sometimes, the biggest obstacle to free-flowing energy is fear. We’re afraid to let go of what’s blocking us—whether it’s a relationship, a belief, or an old pattern—because it’s familiar. It feels safer than the unknown.
I’ll be honest: releasing these blocks isn’t always easy. I’ve held onto plenty of energy-draining situations because I was scared of what might (or might not) be on the other side.
But every single time I’ve found the courage to clear away what’s not serving me, the reward has been immediate—a rush of fresh energy, clarity, and peace that reminds me what it feels like to be fully alive.
Your Energy, Your Responsibility
The most empowering realization I’ve had on this journey is that my energy field is my responsibility. No one else can clear it for me (though healers and practitioners can certainly help).
When I take charge of my own energy flow, I:
- Bounce back faster from setbacks
- Feel more centered in chaotic situations
- Have energy available for what truly matters
- Experience more joy and presence
What about you? Where is your energy flowing freely, and where might it be blocked? What small step could you take today to clear one stone from your stream?
I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments below.
Remember: You’re not just a physical being having an energetic experience—you’re an energetic being having a physical experience. Honor the flow.
