Femoral Nerve Neuralgia (Cruralgia)

This is lower back pain that radiates through the anterior part of the lower limb, generally occurring between 50 and 60 years of age. It is a pain similar to sciatic nerve pain, however, as it affects the femoral nerve (L3-L4), it causes pain in different areas throughout the lower limb.

There are several clinical presentations:

  • Lower back pain radiating to the anterior part of the thigh
  • Pain in the inner part of the knee
  • Pain along the femoral nerve pathway (anterior region of the thigh, inner part of the knee, possibly extending to the inner region of the ankle)

The causes of this problem may be:

  • Spasm of certain muscles that pinch the femoral nerve
  • Lumbar blockage (L3-L4)
  • Herniated disc
  • Arthritis
  • Hip joint pathology
  • Trauma

This situation is simpler than in the case of sciatic neuralgia. In femoral neuralgia, 98% of cases experience disappearance of symptoms and resolution of the problem through manual therapy.

After the first consultation with a manual therapist, the improvement in pain is quite significant. Don’t hesitate any longer, get rid of this pain and have a better quality of life!
